London, 1944. Two young nurses meet at a train station with a common purpose: to join the war effort. Scarlet longs for the chance to find her missing fiancĂ©, Thomas, and to prove to her family—and to herself—that she’s stronger than everybody thinks. Nursing is in Ellie’s blood, but her humble background is vastly different from Scarlet’s privileged upbringing. Though Ellie puts on a brave face, she’s just as nervous as Scarlet about what awaits them in France.

In Normandy, the two friends soon encounter the seemingly unflappable Lucy. Scarlet and Ellie are in awe of her courage and competence, but the experienced nurse is well aware of the dangers of the job they’ve chosen—and even she is terrified they won’t make it home alive.

Pushed to their limits by the brutality of a world at war, Scarlet, Ellie and Lucy will need to rely on each other—and the power of their friendship—to survive.

Captivating, Heart aching story about friendship, love and survival.

I cannot… There are so many thoughts, feelings that are going through me after reading WIVES OF WAR . A story that I am still thinking about even though I finished it last night. I have read quite a few historical fiction novels through the years by a few different authors. This is a third book that I have read by SORAYA M. LANE and after finishing WIVES OF WAR , she is officially my favorite historical fiction author. Even if her books are sad and sometimes hard to read, they are real and you will find yourself pulled into the story from the first page. Like her other books that I have read WIVES OF WAR is a book that you will not forget about, a book that you will find yourself recommending to your friends. I have already recommended this book to a couple of my friends. I am still amazed by the writing, the story and cannot seem to get it out of my mind. The emotions in this book were both heartbreaking and breathtaking and made me feel as I was there along with Ellie, Scarlet and Lucy.

All of the characters were amazing, besides Thomas. However, my favorites in the book were Lucy, Ellie, and Scarlet. All of those girls had to have so much courage to be able to nurse during the war, seeing all the horrible things. I cannot even imagine going through everything that the three girls went through and everything that they see. I am glad that at least the three of them met each other and had each other to lean on when needed. From the beginning, I had all of them in my thoughts and found myself praying and hoping that they would make it through this horrible war. To me, Lucy, Ellie and Scarlet were heroes. I hoped that all of them would make it through this and be able to be with people they love. All three of them deserved a happy ending.

Having a story written by Ellie, Scarlet and Lucy’s point of view worked out great, a way for the reader to get to know each of the characters better. I do not think I even have a favorite, I loved all of the girls. Of course, I loved the love stories as well. The way they acted with each other, and I found myself hoping that they would end up with them. The descriptions in this book, they were incredible. It was clear that the author did her research for this book. I ended up reading most of the day yesterday because I had trouble putting the book down. I wanted to see how it would end. The cover, it’s breathtaking and I feel as you can tell from both cover and title itself how dramatic it will be. Even if you never read a book by SORAYA M. LANE before, the cover itself will make you want to pick it up.

If you love historical fiction and romance, be sure to check out WIVES OF WAR . Be prepared for an emotional ride!

I kind of skipped through this review because of your spoiler alert which I didn't want to read, but I'm going to put this author on my list to watch for. Thanks!
