The Devil She Knows

 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
 4.5
Thank you to publisher,Berkley for E ARC via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Samantha Cooper is having a day from hell.

In less than 24 hours, her life has unraveled, leaving her single and with nowhere to live. Adding insult to injury, she’s trapped in an elevator with a gorgeous woman claiming to be a demon.

Daphne is not at all what Samantha expected from someone claiming to be an evil supernatural entity. She’s pretty, witty, dressed in pink, and smells nice. And she’s here to offer Samantha a deal she can’t refuse. Six wishes in exchange for one tiny trade—Samantha’s soul. There’s a glaring loophole in their contract, one Samantha fully intends to exploit so she doesn’t fork over her soul. After all, she only needs one wish to win her ex back.

Hell-bent to gather the last of the one thousand souls she needs so that she can be free of her own devilish deal, Daphne grants each of Samantha’s wishes . . . with a twist, so that Samantha is forced to make another.

As Samantha’s wishes dwindle and Daphne offers her glimpses into the life she thought she wanted, the unlikely pair grows close. Perhaps the girl of Samantha’s dreams is actually the stuff of nightmares, but Samantha and Daphne will have to outsmart the Devil himself if they want a chance at happily ever after.

I adored this book!

This was unlike any book I have read before, and that was one of the things I loved about this one. I have read several paranormal romances, but The Devil She Knows was unique. From the moment I saw this book's cover, I was intrigued and couldn't wait to dive into Daphne and Sam's story. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading since it was my first book by Alexandra Bellefleur, and I was hooked on the first page and had trouble putting it down. Every page had something happening, and just when I didn't think I could be more surprised, I was only to find out I was wrong. The Devil She Knows surprised me in so many ways.

I liked how detailed the author was with her descriptions; they were so vivid. I adored the conversations between Daphne and Sam, especially their banter. Sam might not have seen it at first, but I noticed the connection between the two of them before she did. I wish there were more scenes between the two of them than there were; a chance for them to form a deeper connection. During each of their interactions, I was eager to see what would happen between the two of them next. Even though I felt like I shouldn’t like Daphne, considering that she was a demon, I loved her. She is not what you would see in Demon.

However, I couldn’t help but love her; I think it was because of the way that she interacted with Sam.
Hannah. I did not see why Sam wanted her back so bad. From what Sam told Daphne, she just feels like Sam should be wasting her wishes on her, but I did understand why she did. The Devil She Knows was such fun book to read! I am so glad that I got chance to read it! I am eager to check out rest of author’s works now.

I had loved books about witches since I read Harry Potter in middle school. The title drew me into the story, followed by the blurb and the cover. I liked the way that this book was written, and the way that the story progressed. I was so captivated by the story that I didn’t even notice how much time had passed. Every page had me wondering what was going to happen with Shay next. There were few times when I had a bad feeling of what was going to happen. I liked the way that the story kept you guessing. I love the world-building, and the way that Steph described everything; I imagined myself in Ipswich, Massachusetts.

I found myself being able to connect with most of characters, especially Shay. I cannot even begin to imagine having to deal with everything that she did. The mix of fantasy, romance and mystery intertwined in this story perfectly. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat; guessing, and of course I was wrong every time. Dean was one of the characters I didn’t like. I had a bad feeling about him from the beginning. Sometimes, there was something wrong with the way that he acted. Cade, I had mixed feelings about. There were times I liked him, but other times I was hesitant about him. I was eager to find out what would happen between him and Shay.

Mildred, I think I loved her as much as Shay. I loved her humor. I found myself laughing a few times at the things that she did or said. In general, this book had everything I love about witches, and I would highly recommend it. I’m eager to see what the author has in store for us next.

A Vow Of Shadow And Blood(Blood Vows,#1)

 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to the author, Charlene Antrobus for E Book, in exchange for an honest review

In the Kingdom of Kalyn, humans are good for two things. Hunting and owning.

Adina Barron was bred to serve the ruling-class vampires. Owned from birth by Blackwood House, her only desire has been to keep herself and her sister safe. But Adina harbors a dark secret. She possesses the power to turn her blood into a deadly poison that kills vampires. An ability she swore never to use until she learned that her sister was dying. After discovering that vampire venom can extend life, Adina has spent the last year risking exposure and execution to hunt and kill the creatures she was born to obey.

But desperation leads to foolish mistakes, and when she accidentally reveals her power to a mysterious stranger, she is forced to make a difficult choice. Use her ability to assassinate the Crown Prince or watch her sister die.

The decision is easy, and it’s not long before Adina manages to use her wits and cunning to embed herself into the prince’s life. But making the kill is not as simple as she anticipates, especially when fate seems hell-bent on drawing the pair together. And when whispers of a war start to arise, Adina realizes that there may be bigger issues than just saving her sister.

But time is closing in, and soon she will be forced to make a choice. Her sister? Her kingdom? Or her heart? Because one thing is clear, she cannot save them all.

Be prepared for a thrilling ride!

This book had everything that I love about fantasy. I used to read a lot of fantasy, until a couple of years ago, I started reading less. After reading A Vow Of Shadow and Blood, I want to read more fantasy, especially romantasy. I loved the world that Charlene created, and I couldn’t get enough of it. Every page had me craving more, wanting to see what would happen next. Twists are what kept me up late into the night some days. I would finish this much faster if it weren’t for classes and assignments. When I wasn’t reading, I thought about it and wondered what would happen with Adina and Karius next. I loved those two characters and their connection, even if Adina was in denial. I wondered what was going to happen between the two of them next. All through the book, I was rooting for two of them.

What I loved about this book is the characters and character development, which were phenomenal. Most of the characters changed in so many ways, especially Adina, from the beginning of the book. She was one of my favorites. I loved how determined she was and how she was willing to do anything to save her sister. Adina and Karius might be two of my favorites. Still, I love so many other characters, like Ajax and a few others. I loved how I was about to connect to a few different characters. Even though they were fictional characters, I felt as if they became my friends while reading.

My favorite aspect of the book was the description and the action. Every page always has something going on, and when you don’t think you can be more surprised, you are only to find out that you were wrong. I also loved how different this vampire book was. I love books about vampires and have read several different ones. This is unlike any others I have read, and one of the best ones I have read. I’m so excited that this series will have 4 books. I can’t wait to see what happens, especially after that ending. I don’t want to give too much away, so you will have to read it to find out for yourself.

Remain.

Thank you to publisher,Random House for  E ARC via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

When New York architect Tate Donovan arrives in Cape Cod to design his best friend’s summer home, he is hoping to make a fresh start. Recently discharged from an upscale psychiatric facility where he was treated for acute depression, he is still wrestling with the pain of losing his beloved sister. Sylvia’s deathbed revelation—that she can see spirits who are still tethered to the living world, a gift that runs in their family—sits uneasily with Tate, who struggles to believe in more than what reason can explain. But when he takes up residence at a historic bed-and-breakfast on the Cape, he encounters a beautiful young woman named Wren who will challenge every assumption he has about his logical and controlled world.

Tate and Wren find themselves forging an immediate connection, one that neither has ever experienced before. But Tate gradually discovers that below the surface of Wren’s idyllic small-town life, hatred, jealousy, and greed are festering, threatening their fragile relationship just as it begins to blossom. Tate realizes that in order to free Wren from an increasingly desperate fate, he will need to unearth the truth about her past before time runs out . . . a quest that will make him doubt whether we can ever believe the stories we tell about ourselves, and the laws that govern our existence. Love—while transformative—can sometimes be frightening.

Magical.

There are so many other words I can use to describe this book. I’m still trying to process this story. Such a beautiful supernatural love story, but it’s much more than a love story. One of my favorite aspects of the story is the way that Nicholas Sparks and M.Night Shyamalan blended romance with suspense and the supernatural. It was outstanding. I loved the way that Wren was written. I liked her high spirit at times, and of course, the connection that she had with Tate. I think that Tate needed someone like Wren in his life to heal after losing his sister. The two of them had the sort of connection that had me smiling. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, but simultaneously I was hesitant because I feared what might happen. Remain is not the story you can pull away from. Even when I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about it.

I was curious about the title, Remain when Nicholas Sparks announced that he was writing a new book. Once I started reading the book, the title made so much sense. I also love the cover because it has a romantic and mysterious look on it. I have read all Sparks' novels and even own most of them. I have heard of M. Night, but this was the first time I read something written by him. The two of them make a fantastic team. I liked the way the suspense and the romance blended. In the second half of the book, I found myself turning the pages until I reached the end. All those descriptions had me visualizing everything that was happening, like a movie.

I could keep talking about this book, but that would take too long. After reading Remain, I’m excited for the movie to come out. I think it will be a great movie. I also hope Sparks and Night will team up again for another book. I highly recommend this book for romance, thriller, and paranormal fans.

My biggest rival is the father of my child. He just doesn’t know it yet.

Sleeping with my family’s enemy wasn’t planned. Oops. Too late.

It was a one-night stand in Costa Rica, and names were the last thing we wanted to exchange. What can I say? The man was hot as sin.

Blue-sky eyes. Broad, athletic shoulders. A smile that just about did me in.
I came home with more than his cowboy hat as a souvenir.

Four years later, that sweet memento calls me Mommy.

I’m a busy single mom helping to run the Dover empire. The last thing I need is a vacation fling showing up wearing the one name on the back of his baseball jersey that’s forbidden by my family. Greene.

Annoyingly arrogant. Infuriatingly irritating. A smirk on his stupidly handsome face.
Just my luck when I need to break the news, he’s my son’s father.

He came to play baseball, not be a dad, so I have no intention of getting me and our son caught up in his game. But even the strongest walls have faults, and when we start spending time together, mine begin to crumble.

Is the universe giving us a second chance or are we caught up in a small-town frenzy?

A heartfelt story that will have you going through emotions all the way through.

This is what I love about discovering new authors. I’m so glad that I came across this on Instagram and signed up for ARC. Small Town Frenzy had everything that I love about small town romance, and the reason is that it’s one of my favorite tropes. But this story was more than just a romance story; it was also about family and second chances. I liked how that story was written; it flowed so well and felt so real. I felt as if I was there, along with Cricket and Griffin.

I adored the connection between Cricket and Griffin from the beginning. I was rooting for the two of them from the beginning. Cricket seemed to be in denial about her attraction to Griffin initially, and I understood why, but I also hoped she would let him in. I enjoyed that the story was written from Cricket and Griffin's perspectives, allowing readers to connect with both. I loved them both; if I were asked which was my favorite, I wouldn't be able to choose.

Another thing that I loved about this story was the descriptions; I could picture it so vividly, as if I were there. I liked how you could connect to most of the characters in the story; even the minor characters stood out to me. My favorites were, of course, the bittersweet moments that had me smiling and kept me turning the pages. I did not realize that Small Town Frenzy was the third book in the Peachtree Pass series, and now that I read this one, I cannot wait to read the others. I want to keep talking about this book, but don’t want to give too much away. You’ll have to read the book and find out! Highly recommended.

Between the chilling mysteries, stolen moments of passion, and a growing attraction she can’t ignore, Raven must survive the season… or fall for the darkness.

Haunting.

Be ready to read this until you reach the end. From the moment I read the first few sentences of Dark Harvest, I knew that I would have a hard time putting this book down. I shouldn’t be surprised, since I’m already one of the biggest Persis Lassister fans. It’s the way that she describes everything that is going on that pulls you into the story instantly. I tend to be picky when it comes to horror/spooky books, but I loved the way that Persis set up the scene, and the way she described everything; I imagined as if I were there, as if I were Raven.

I loved Raven and Damien, although sometimes I had mixed opinions about him. There was a part of me that knew there was a reason I was wary of him, but I couldn’t help but love him at the same time. I loved the setting; it gave such a creepy vibe, and this novella will give you the Halloween vibes. I loved this story so much, including the setting and the characters, but I don’t want to give too much away. You will have to read to find out. It is one of the best horrors/spooky stories I have read. Highly recommended!

The Christmas Keepsake(Love In Bloom,#2)

 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to the publisher,Forever(Grand Central ) for providing with E ARC via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Sometimes the best gifts aren’t under the tree.

Everyone has a story to tell. And for Mallory Blue, her grandmother Nan’s community theater and annual Christmas play has been a beloved tradition for as long as she can remember. But this year is different. With Nan losing her memories to dementia, Mallory has taken on more than she can handle—including directing this year’s show.

Two things are keeping Mallory A journal that tells the story behind each handmade ornament on Nan’s tree. And Hollis, who volunteers to play Santa to spend time with Mallory and prove he’s no longer the rebellious boy she knew growing up.

As Mallory reads through Nan’s entries, she realizes there’s so much she never knew about her grandmother. And when Mallory has big decisions to make in both her personal and professional life, it’s Nan’s wise advice and Hollis’s steadfast support that will hold the key to this year’s holiday magic.

 ðŸŒ·

What a beautiful story!

The Christmas Keepsake impacted me deeply. I finished the story last night and can’t seem get it out of my head. This story is what I love about holiday stories, and the type of stories that you can read year-round. I have a feeling that The Christmas Keepsake will be the book that I will be returning to in the future. I adored this book from beginning to end. If I didn't have to study, I'd spend all day reading this remarkable story. The Christmas Keepsake is not just a love story, but it’s a story about family, friendships, grief, healing, and hope.

I’ve been reading Annie Rains books since 2017 and loved the ones I have read. However, I have to say that Christmas Keepsake is my favorite; the one book that you won’t be able to put down, no matter how hard you try. I recommended this book to my friends who I know would love it. I loved Mallory from the start. I know it couldn’t be easy to see someone you love, not remembering you, and trying to put up a front and work simultaneously. I connected with Mallory more than with the other characters. I had a great-grandmother who had dementia, and I remember the heartbreak I felt when she no longer remembered me. She might not have seen it, but Mallory was strong, and I loved that she didn’t give up.

One of the things that I love about this book is that as a reader, you find yourself connecting to most of the characters in the story, including the minor characters. I read The Finders Keepers Library last year, and I loved Savannah's story, but I loved Mallory's story more, and I can't help but wonder about the next one. I loved reading Nan’s journal and how each homemade ornament went with different parts of her story. I cried several times while reading Nan’s journal entries, feeling as if I was there with Nan, feeling all those emotions that she was feeling. It was as if I traveled back in time. Of course, I couldn’t help but love Hollis. I like the way that he was helping others, especially Mallory. I found myself rooting for the two of them from the start. The Christmas Keepsake already makes me want more holiday stories. A must-read.

The French Kitchen.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to publisher,Thomas Nelson Fiction for  E ARC via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Paris, 1952 -- An ex-pat wife living in Paris signs up for a cookery class taught by an American chef with an indomitable wit and decidedly French airs--an instructor by name of Julia Child. Amongst classes of the L'Ecole des Trois Gourmandes, with pots and pans and prim Paris wives learning to sauté in the French way, Kat Fontaine learns much more than she bargained for.

Still haunted by the years she spent serving in the American Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during WWII, Kat soon finds a simple cookery class unearths the tangle of gut-wrenching memories of war and questions about the high-ranking society husband whose past is as murky as her own. But when the puzzle pieces start to come together--and her carefully crafted Paris world begins to fall apart--Kat must confront her own secrets against the mounting suspicions of the husband she thought she knew . . .

Rue, 1943 -- Deep in the heart of Nazi-controlled northern France, Manon Altier shifts between working for the enemy by day--as a French chef at the famous Château du Broutel, where names like Himmler, Rommel, and Goebbels frequent the guest list--and running with underground networks against the Vichy regime at night. Working undercover to filter information to agents within the burgeoning OSS, Manon digs deep into the glitz and glamour of a Nazi stronghold that has her teetering on the edge of being discovered at any turn. But when an intriguing stranger appears at the chateau claiming to work with the French Resistance, Manon must lean on her instincts to judge whether to run and hide or stand firm--even as a terrifying discovery tests her resolve to continue the fight.

I love historical fiction, especially the ones that are different and unique. I have been reading historical fiction for years and have read a few different versions and takes on WWII. What I loved about The French Kitchen was that it differed from any other historical fiction I have read. This book's level of detail was outstanding; as a reader, it makes everything easier for me to visualize. As I read, I could see it so clearly; like a movie playing in my mind. That was my favorite part of the book. The story started out interesting, but halfway through, it seemed to shift to a slower pace for me, only to pick up again after a few chapters. Also, the shift between the different timelines was slightly confusing for me at the beginning. But as I continued reading the story, I understood why she structured it that way.

Of all the characters in the book, Kat was my favorite. I admired her courage, resilience, and how she never gave up looking for her brother. Although I enjoyed reading from Manon’s perspective, I always looked forward to reading Kat’s story. Although sometimes I was afraid of how Kat’s story might end. I liked the way that Cambron had a way where all the characters stood out, even the main characters. Even though I cannot begin to imagine what they had to endure, reading this book, I felt as if I did. It was as if I was stepping into their shoes. I still cannot get these characters out of my mind. Incredible.

I heard of Julia Child, but I knew her as a chef. I had no idea about her backstory, which was fascinating. I even found myself researching after I finished the book. What I loved about the book is the powerful friendships and relationships between the characters. I could go on about this book, but I don’t want to give the story away; you must read it to find out for yourself. This is my 2nd book by Kristy Cambron and so far, my favorite. I cannot wait to check out the others.
