I been seeing and hearing a lot of good reviews about Jennifer Echols novels, so decided to check out for that reason. I came across The One I Want, while at library and checked it out. The summary on the book seemed interested enough, to capture my attention. I ended up enjoying less that I thought I would, it was what I had expected it to be. I did enjoy the book, but there were parts I didn’t enjoy that much and it was of those parts that was hard to get into book that much. Despite that, there were still a lot of parts that hooked me and kept me on reading. I will be checking out other Jennifer Echol’s works.
GOODREADS SUMMARY
Gemma can’t believe her luck when the star football player starts flirting with her. Max is totally swoon-worthy, and even gets her quirky sense of humor. So when he asks out her so-called best friend Addison, Gemma’s heartbroken.
Then Addison pressures Gemma to join the date with one of Max’s friends. But the more time they all spend together, the harder Gemma falls for Max. She can’t help thinking that Max likes her back—it’s just too bad he’s already dating Addison. How can Gemma get the guy she wants without going after her best friend’s boyfriend?
In general, I thought it was cute story. What I enjoyed about story the most was the bond between Max and Gemma. Despite that he was with Addison, I could tell that it was Gemma that he was attracted to. I thought it was interesting that most of the novel based around, the relationship, the feelings of Gemma. Her emotions were portrayed well in this novel. Reading it, made me imagine and feel what Gemma was going through, I felt like I was there beside her. In a way, I felt like I could relate to her. I used be picked on, at school, for different reasons but it made me be able to connect with the character.
Addison & Carter: I didn’t like either of them. Though Carter seemed nice enough at start, till he got with Gemma. I was surprised that Gemma lasted with him as long, as she did. Now Addison, I disliked even more. I never thought I could hate a fictional character that much, but I hated her, right from the start. The way she treated Gemma? Putting her down most of time, getting mad for simple things? True best friend wouldn’t do that. There were multiple times, I wanted give her piece of my mind and wished Gemma would too. I found myself hating her more, when I found she lied about everything, including Max. I was glad that Gemma finally stood up to her.
It was a easy, cute read. It worth checking out.
