I seriously don’t get why so many people hating this book. Including the ones that didn’t even read it, they just assumed that it was going be bad because a ghost writer wrote it, seriously? I thought this book was amazing, I found myself unable to put it down. I loved as much then the other books in series. Whoever they picked for Ghost Writer did an amazing job. Each page I read, got more interesting and of course it made me curious what’s going to happen next. I loved the suspense in this novel, in way that put mysterious look to the book. I will be continuing reading the series, I am eager to see what happens in Moonsong.
GOODREADS SUMMARY
The past is never far. . . .
Elena Gilbert and her friends saved Fell's Church from evil spirits bent on destroying it, but the town's freedom came at a price: Damon Salvatore's life.
Damon's death changes everything. He and his vampire brother, Stefan, had been locked in a vicious battle for Elena's heart. Now that he's gone, Elena and Stefan can finally be together. So why can't Elena stop dreaming of Damon? As Elena's feelings for Damon grow, a new darkness is brewing in Fell's Church. Elena has been to hell and back, but this demon is like nothing she's ever seen. Its only goal is to kill Elena and everyone she loves.
First, I love the cover in this book. I feel like the red background suites the series more than the black one did, though I loved other covers as well. I love the girl on cover of Phantom, she looks stunning. At same time it gives a book a mysterious look, because the girl isn’t smile, it will make the reader wonder if there is a story behind the girl, who she is. That’s what I found myself wondering, even if I knew what the book is about. I believe that it’s type of cover that will capture anyone’s attention. It totally captured mine, it stands out.
Now, the plot in this book was amazing. To me it seemed like it had more action then other books, well The Return books though I loved those too. But with these, it seemed like there was more suspense in these book, they weren’t too predictable. You couldn’t see what was going to come next, but at the same time, it made you wonder, and think of what was going happen next. It’s the type of books that I love, that make you think. Of course, it made me curious who was doing, hurting others, Elena’s friends and sending those notes. From the beginning, I had a feeling that their life couldn’t go back to normal, at least not for long. Right from beginning, I knew that there were going face some sort of evil soon. Mostly because that how it seemed like in the other books. I rooted for them, to find out what’s going on, and for them to resolve it.
Damon, of course I loved him like I always had. I wasn’t too happy with L.J when she killed him off, in the last book that she wrote. I was happy when he was brought back in this book, I was hoping that he would be or I wouldn’t be happy. I could tell how he cared for Elena too, since she was the first one that he came to when he came back. I just wish that Elena would make her choice already. Despite me liking Stefan, I feel like it’s Damon that she needs to be. To me it seems like the two of them have more connection with each other, understand each other more than Stefan and Elena. I am eager to find who she will choose at the end. Because how she keeps going back and forth between two of them, isn’t fair to neither of brothers.
Only thing I disliked about the book, and reason I didn’t quite gave it 5 stars, was Elena. She started to really annoy me, especially in this book. To me it seemed like she was constantly whining, complaining about something. At times, it seemed like she only cared about herself and not so much others. It’s okay to do it in beginning but constantly, it started to get on my nerves. I kind of wish she complained less, and would probably like her more if she did.
Otherwise, if you enjoyed other Vampire Diaries books, check this one. Don’t judge because it wasn’t written by L.J. Read it first, give it a chance. It’s worth it.
