Wow. If you loved Hourglass, you are going to love Timepiece, . The second I picked up the book, I basically had to force myself to put the book down; I was so engaged in the story, the characters. Honestly, I actually enjoyed Timepiece more than Hourglass. Even if I loved Emerson and Michael story, there seemed to be more action, more mysteries in Kaleb story. Besides I loved Kaleb since start, I found myself enjoying his character more than I did Michael. There were quite bit twists in the story that I didn’t see coming. I’m eager to find out what happens in next installment of the series.
GOODREADS SUMMARY
A threat from the past could destroy the future. And the clock is ticking...
Kaleb Ballard was never supposed to be able to see ripples - cracks in time. Are his powers expanding, or is something very wrong? Before he can find out, Jonathan landers, the man who tried to murder is father, reappears. Why is he back, and what, or whom, does he want?
In the wake of Landers' return, the Hourglass organization is given an ultimatum. Either they find Jack and the research he's stolen on the people who might carry the time gene, or time will be altered - with devastating results for the people Kaleb loves most.
Now Kaleb, Emerson, Michael, and the other Hourglass recruits have no choice but to use their unusual powers to find Landers. But where do they even start? And when? And even if they succeed, it may not be enough...
The Cover is stunning in this book. It looks mysterious, but at the same time dangerous, the way that the girl is holding onto door like she is about to get blown away. Even if you were not read the summary of the book first, the cover would totally capture attention. It would make the reader curious about the picture, it makes the reader think about what the photograph could mean and observe it for few minutes. That’s what it did to me, and it made me even more curious about the book. I did not expect it to be in Kaleb’s point of view, but I could tell that it wasn’t Emerson when I started it reading it, the tone seemed different. I picked up after few seconds that this time it was told from Kaleb’s point of view. I found myself excited that there would be more of Kaleb in the book; I always wondered what Kaleb was thinking, especially with everything going on with his mother. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how it must feel, to have your mom in Coma and unable to do anything. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to stay strong, the way that Kaleb did. Through reading this novel, I began to understand Kaleb more, about why he acted the way he is. But at same time, I saw how much he changed as well.
Lily & Kaleb: Lily was the last person that I thought Kaleb would end up falling for. Actually I didn’t see Kaleb the type of person that could fall for anyone, it not sense that I got from him when he appeared in Hourglass. I was sure that something would happen between him and Emerson, but same time was glad that there wasn’t another love triangle, since it seems to be a pattern in the books lately. What I loved about their relationship is fact that it wasn’t love at first sight, it seemed like they hated each other at beginning, well at least Lily did. Can’t say I don’t blame her, considering how he acted when they first met. I loved the hate/love relationship they had. Despite what they claimed, I knew they cared about each other. I could tell towards the end that Kaleb truly cared about her, not the feeling I expected from Kaleb.
I loved the mystery in this book, the adventure. There was so much action, it made the novel even more engaging. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
