Becoming.

                        ✰

                                     CONTAINS SPOILERS

In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.

In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

An Inspiration.

Becoming has been on my reading list, ever since I found that Michelle Obama wrote a book. I had liked Michelle Obama from the moment her husband, Barrack, became the president. I was curious about how she met Barrack and how it was to live in the White House. I cannot begin to imagine how it was to live in the public eye during Barrack’s presidency. I think that if it were me, I wouldn’t have been able to handle it. When I picked Becoming , I felt good about the book. There were few parts in the book that was too slow or did not spark interest. In general, I couldn’t seem to put the book down. I enjoyed reading about the election process, and I had always wondered how the process is for the running people. Now I know that it takes out of the entire family. You have looked your best, smiling, and watch what you are saying. The family’s behavior could affect Barrack’s vote. There’s so much that goes into running for president and becoming one.

I loved reading about Michelle’s life, how she grew up, how she met Barrack. Their meeting was not the one I was expecting. It’s clear from Michelle’s description that there was something special between them, right from the start. When Barrack Obama was president, I saw the love the two of them had for each other. When I saw them together, I couldn’t help but smile. I loved that I got the chance to read their story. I loved how the two of them tried to protect their girls during Barrack Obama’s presidency. I wonder how the two of them felt during it and how they felt having secret service everywhere. I knew there was a lot of work when you are president, but I never realized how much work it took. Michelle’s description of the White House had me feeling as I was there. All of her illustrations, I could picture every one of them.

I have read few memoirs by now. Becoming was different, and I felt I understood politics a bit better afterward. This is the book that will stay with you long after turning the last page. I felt as if I learned so much. I would highly recommend picking this one up.
