Magical. Mysterious.
I love books about the fae. I don't think that I can count the number of books I have read through the years. THE FALCONER is one I did not know about, not until I came across it at the library. The cover and the title were what captured my attention first, and then I read the summary. I had a feeling that THE FALCONER would be a story that I will enjoy. I was in love with the story within the first chapter. This book… many emotions were going through me, making me as if I was there, along with Aileana. I felt all her feelings, her anger. I understood why she killed the fae. I cannot imagine watching her mother getting murdered and unable to do anything to save her. Aileana was one of my favorite heroines in the book. She was strong, fierce. I loved that she would not give up, not even for a moment. With all those descriptions and the landscapes, I could see myself there. Of course, I loved how much action was there, and it had me turning pages long into the night. I know that if it weren't for classes, I would keep on reading until the end.
Kieran. He was a complicated character. In the beginning, he was bossy and the type of person that I didn't think I could like. I could tell that he was trying to protect her. However, most of all, I believe that he was trying to hide his feelings from her. I could tell that there was something there between the two of them, a connection. I wasn't sure if the two of them would ever get there, admitting feelings for one another. But then, that very intimate scene between the two of them. I don't think I can find the words to describe how I was feeling at that moment. I could only imagine how Aileana was feeling at that moment. I had a feeling that there was a chance that something else might happen between the two of them afterward. I was hoping that it would. I was shipping the two of them since. I am eager to find out what is in the store for both next. The scenes between the two of them were my favorite ones.
Derrick. Catherine. Those two were the other favorite characters. They were such good friends to Aileana. They were the type of friends that anyone would love to have. I loved Derrick's sense of humor; I wouldn't mind having a pixie-like him. I loved the bond that he and Aileana established. It’s hard to believe that THE FALCONER is ELIZABETH MAY’S debut novel. It was extraordinary. I had forced myself to put the book down a few times; otherwise, I would never have gone to sleep. THE FALCONER was unlike any other fae book that I have read in the past, and the fae was different. I loved how different it was, and it made the book unique. I was on the edge of my seat until the end. I am eager to find out what's in store for Aileana next.
