The historic hotel in Boonsboro has endured war and peace, the changing of hands, and even rumored hauntings. Now it's getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett's social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there's another project he's got his eye on: the girl he's been waiting to kiss since he was sixteen.

After losing her husband and returning to her hometown, Clare Brewster soon settles into her life as the mother of three young sons while running the town's bookstore. Though busy and with little time for romance, Clare is drawn across the street by Beckett's transformation of the old inn, wanting to take a closer look...at both the building and the man behind it.

With the grand opening inching closer, Beckett is happy to give Clare a private tour - one room at a time, in between blueprint meetings and kindergarten pickups. It's no first date, but these stolen moments are the beginning of something that could arouse the secret yearning that resides in Clare's independent heart - and open the door to the extraordinary adventure of what comes next...

Beautifully written. Magical Love Story.

I think that I am in love. NEXT TO ALWAYS is my third NORA ROBERTS book and now I know why people love her. Roberts storied will pull you in from first page to the last, leaving you craving for more. I loved everything about this novel, the characters, the story, the descrptions and the emotions that you felt while reading it. Roberts knows how to capture each characters emotions beautifully and you will find yourself feeling those emotions along with them. Through reading the novel, I had this feeling that I was feeling the emotions that both Clare and Beckett were feeling, as if I was connecting with both. It was astonishing. I couldn’t get enough of Clare and Beckett story, and curious where it would lead them. Would they stay together or would something get in their way? Yet, at same time I felt a bit sad when I reached the end of their story. It was as if I was saying goodbye to friends. I am hoping because it is a series that I will see more of Beckett and Clare in the next book THE LAST BOYFRIEND..

To me, I felt as I got to know each character a bit better because it got split up between Clare and Bennet point of view and sometimes the brothers and my curiosity about other brothers picked up, I am eager to read their stories. I knew that Bennett was crazy about Clare since he was a teenager, just way he acted around and always wanted to be around her. I could tell that Clare felt something for Bennett as well, but it was like something stood in her way. I had a feeling it could been something to do with her late husband, Clint. I can’t even begin to imagine to lose love of your life and have raise your 3 children on your own. I wanted a happy ending for Clare and there was nobody better for her that Bennett, who fell in love not just with her but her children as well. That sort of guy is keeper. I loved how he wanted make sure she safe after Sam started to stalk her. Now that’s true love. I was grinning by end when Clare and Bennett got their happily after.

Loved the ghost in the Inn as the mix in story. Ghosts had always fascinated me in story, it was an interesting twist to story, and made it more interesting to read. Yet I couldn’t help but wonder how she knew when Clare was in trouble. There was a chance that story could ended differently if it wasn’t for her. Like I said, NEXT TO ALWAYS was filled with so many mixed emotions. This is one of her series that is worth every page, every chapter. I can’t wait for Owen and Avery’s story in THE LAST BOYFRIEND.

Breathtaking.
