Another beautiful story by SARAH DESSEN
I think that by now you’re aware how big fan I am of this writer, but then how can I not be? I had started reading her novels back in 2012 and so far there haven’t been a single book of hers that I didn’t love. ALONG FOR THE RIDE wasn’t any different, I fell in love with the characters, the story within first couple chapters. I felt myself involved into story along with the other characters and by middle of the book, I had this feeling like the characters I came across in this book became my friends, especially Auden and Eli. I love that name, Auden most of all because it’s an unusual name for a girl anyway and that makes her unique, more then she was aleready. Like Auden, I used to be Insomatic years earlier so I know the feeling. Though I do wish that I could had all those adventures that she ended up having with Eli. It was hard not to love Auden, her personality and everything about her you find yourself rooting for her. All that I wish was that she didn’t push away Eli the way that she had. But you can tell how she changed from beginning book to end, most of all her attitude towards Heidi, her baby sister and her father. She wasn’t a girl that we met at the beginning of the book, and it was amazing to go to that journey along with her.
I wasn’t sure if I liked Eli at first, at least not when we came across him in a beginning. That was mostly due to how he acted around Auden at first. Once the two of them started to hang out together, it was not long where you could tell that there was bond between two of them. I feel like that was around time that Auden started to push him away once she realized how close they were getting. But I could tell that was decision that she seemed to regret fast. I was glad that she had other friends to help her out, especially Maggie, she seemed to bond with Auden most even though she hooked up with Jake on first night in Colby. I feel that if it had been anyone else, they wouldn’t forgiven her. I did find myself rooting for Eli and Auden and hoped that they would find their way to one another. Anyone could see that they loved each other.
I feel like Auden tried to dislike Heidi and the baby, but the end she couldn’t because Heidi wasn’t how Auden that she would be like. It was impossible to not like her. The one person I did dislike was Auden’s father. I hated how he treated Heidi and how he would come up with any excuse to not help her with the baby. It wasn’t just her child, it was his too. But way he acted, it felt like he didn’t even care. I couldn’t find it in me to like a person like that. I could see why Auden’s mother wasn’t his biggest fan. I was glad that he did finally come to his senses though it did take him a while. All it took was Auden for him to come to his sense and actually come home and start helping with the baby. I loved how much Auden bonded with her baby sister, it had me smiling.
Astonishing, beautiful and breath taking.
