Alex and Conner Bailey's world is about to change, in this fast-paced adventure that uniquely combines our modern day world with the enchanting realm of classic fairy tales.

"The Land of Stories" tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner. Through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, they leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with the fairy tale characters they grew up reading about.

But after a series of encounters with witches, wolves, goblins, and trolls alike, getting back home is going to be harder than they thought.

As a child, even when I was a teenager I had always loved Fairy Tales. That hasn’t changed. It’s been a while since I read a fairy tale, The Wishing Spell had everything that I love about Fairy Tales, it featured some of my favorite fairy tales as a kid. How Colfer twisted them a bit, made the story so much more entertainment. How can you not enjoy a novel that has Cinderella, Snow White, Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel in them? Fact that most of them were Queens too, that was an interesting twist as well. From moment I found that Chris Colfer, from Glee wrote a book, a fairy tale I have been eager to read it. Once I did, I realized that not only is he a talented actor, he’s a talented author as well. His book left me speechless; it had me laughing, smiling, as well as feeling Alex & Conner’s fear, sadness, and hope. It was hard to not be able to connect to the twins. Colfer has an unique imagination and talent for storytelling.

Story, characters wasn’t the first that caught my attention, Illustrations on the cover did. As a reader, a writer you can tell that something big is happening there. I know that I saw the twins who looked like they were falling but in background surrounded by magical world, the actual book looked like they landed inside the book, a fairy tale book. Even before I realized that Colfer wrote it, the illustration on the front cover had my attention. Picture itself was filled with suspense and it was colorful too, it would make anyone curious of what is going on in the story, I know that it was. The Illustrations inside the book were as amazing, it captured my attention even more. It was easier for me to picture the adventures that Alex and Conner faced through the novel. Brandon Dorman did an excellent job with the illustrations.

Despite the Illustrations and Summary capturing attention, I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy the story. This is first book I was going read by Colfer and it been while since I read fairytales. However once I started the book, I was hooked from the first page and I knew I was going to love the book. I was right. I loved it, even more than I thought I would. What is there not to love about it? It was filled with lots of action, adventure, a bit of romance and of course suspense. It featured characters from most of famous fairytales. I loved how Colfer combined real life character with fairy tale characters and enjoyed them communicating with one another. Of course I loved Alex, she was upbeat and high spirits right from starts, and it made me smile when she met some of her favorite characters from her favorite fairytales. I believe that looking for all Wishing Spell itiems kept the twin’s mind of death of their father and brought twins closer than ever.

There were quite few twists I wasn’t expecting. Goldilocks being a fugitive and in love with Jack, that I did not see coming. Though I suspected that twins grandmother might be from fairy tale world, after all Land Of Stories was her book, finding out that she was Cinderella’s fairy godmother had taken me by surprise, same as twins. Finding that the journal they followed to find everything, was their father’s. Most of all I enjoyed following their adventures, all through the book I wondered if they will find their way back home, considering all obstacles that they ran through.

I didn’t care that it was a children’s book, it was one of the best fairy tales that I read. I can’t wait to see what adventures Alex & Conner will have to face next. If you love Fairy tales, Land Of Stories is a book you should pick up, you won’t want put it down.
