How can anyone not love Harry Potter? It’s such a magical story.
I have lost count of how many times I have re-read Harry Potter. It has been a while since I read Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone; but this time I decided to listen to the full-cast audiobook on Audible, which was terrific. The first time I tried reading Harry Potter was in 8th grade, but I had trouble understanding it, so I put it on hold until high school. Re-reading, I remembered why I fell in love with the series; it’s not just the plot but the characters, especially Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Dumbledore, who are my favorites. What I loved about the audiobook is the different voices for each character, and the background noises brought the story to life; I felt as if I was watching the movie. Each narrator was excellent. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone kept me on the edge of my seat, especially once Harry came to Hogwarts.
I liked the interaction between the characters, especially between Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Although at the beginning Hermione did annoy me, in the same way that she annoyed Harry and Ron. As the book progressed, my feelings about her changed. When I first read the book, I didn’t see Hermione becoming friends with Ron and Harry; one of the things that took me by surprise. I was curious to see how their friendship would develop through the rest of the books. Their interaction was even more interesting to listen to. I’m glad that Harry had Hermione and Ron; it seemed like they were the two people who stood by his side. I don’t think that Harry would have accomplished everything that he did if it weren’t for Ron and Hermione.
A few parts felt like they dragged on. However, it picked up once Harry arrived at Hogwarts, and at that point, I couldn’t put it down. While reading the book, I always had a feeling that something was going to go wrong, I just wasn’t sure what. Snape was one character that I was conflicted about, I didn’t understand why he seemed to hate Harry so much. I was curious if there was a reason behind it. I loved reading about Quidditch, such a fascinating game! That was always part of the book that kept my attention.
Even though I have read Harry Potter multiple times, I love it even more every time I re-read it. Harry Potter is the book that made me fall in love with fantasy and witches/wizards. If you love magic and fantasy, you should check this book out!
