Haunting.
I've been hearing about Megan Miranda's newest thriller, You Belong Here, for a while now. However, I was intrigued by the book even before I started reading it, mostly because of the book's cover and synopsis. It sounded like exactly the type of thriller I enjoy. The story captivated me right away, and I couldn't stop turning the pages. Almost every chapter had so many twists that I couldn't put the book down because I wanted to know what was going to happen to Beckett and Delilah next. It kept me at the edge of my seat. I felt that the first half of the book was a little slower than the second, but it was still interesting enough to keep me reading. I had a bad feeling that whatever Beckett discovered would not be good.
I liked Beckett. I liked how the story was written from her perspective, both in the present tense and from her college days. I admired how determined she was to learn what had happened to Deliah. I felt that some were not taking her concerns seriously. Part of me questioned whether Beckett was concealing something as well. Although I enjoyed the book's suspense, I thought there wasn't as much mystery as I had anticipated when I first started reading it. Also, there was something about Deliah's story that didn't feel like the whole truth. The suspense was written so vividly that I felt myself trying to figure out the truth, along with Beckett. The mystery got so intriguing at one point, that I couldn’t stop turning the pages.
The ending wasn't what I had anticipated. The ending seemed a little hurried to me. I thought this story was good overall. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I really enjoyed how it kept me wondering what would happen next. I would recommend this book to any thriller fans. I am eager to see what Megan Miranda has in store for us next!
