Three friends, two love stories, one convention: this fun, feminist love letter to geek culture is all about fandom, friendship, and finding the courage to be yourself.

Charlie likes to stand out. She’s a vlogger and actress promoting her first movie at SupaCon, and this is her chance to show fans she’s over her public breakup with co-star Reese Ryan. When internet-famous cool-girl actress Alyssa Huntington arrives as a surprise guest, it seems Charlie’s long-time crush on her isn’t as one-sided as she thought.

Taylor likes to blend in. Her brain is wired differently, making her fear change. And there’s one thing in her life she knows will never change: her friendship with her best guy friend Jamie—no matter how much she may secretly want it to. But when she hears about a fan contest for her favorite fandom, she starts to rethink her rules on playing it safe.

It didn’t take me long to fall in love with this book. This story had everything that I love about books, and it had me going through so many emotions. QUEENS OF GEEK a story that I wished I read when I found out about the book. A story that I couldn’t seem to put it down, and only reason I did was due to work, otherwise I would read it all day if I could. Actually I am still thinking about it, and wondering what happened to Charlie, Taylor, Jamie, Alyssa afterwards, and how could I not? I felt as all of those became my friends through the book. They are the type of friends that reminds me of some of my friends, and the type that would make amazing friends. I loved the friends that Charlie, Taylor and Jamie had, that no matter what was going on, they were always there if one of them needed someone. They remind me of my best friends, and some of them are 1000 miles away, but always there. What they have, that’s a true friendship, and I know that they will be friends for years to come. I am not sure if I have a favorite character, but I did love Taylor and Charlie. They were the type of characters that you couldn’t help but love, and the ones that you wanted to be friends with. I loved reading from both of their point of views and even though it took place in same place, I felt as if I was reading two different stories.

QUEENS OF GEEK was real to me. The setting, the characters and everything that they had to deal with. I went to my first con last year with friends and I loved it, I did not cosplay but I saw a lot who did and it looked amazing, and I am thinking about it next time. I loved reading about it as well, and it makes me want to try it even more, next time I go to a con. I could relate to Taylor quite bit, like her, I have anxiety and I did use to have social anxiety but it got better through the years. I knew how she was feeling, and it reminded me how anxious I would get, thinking about even talking to someone I didn’t know, and I still do, but it got much better. Taylor is the type of person that I would love to be friends with. I felt proud of her, despite her anxiety, going to Con and even entering a fan contest, that’s a big step for her. I loved how her friends were always there if she did panic. Jamie, it was clear how much he cared for her, and I was waiting for her to figure out as well. I was rooting for the two of them to get together through the entire book. I was actually grinning when the two of them kissed.

I don’t think I could choose a favorite couple, even if I tried. I loved Alyssa and Charlie, as much as I loved Jamie and Taylor. I had a feeling that Alyssa liked her from the moment that the two of them met. I was happy for Charlie, that she was being treated the way that she deserved to be. I have feeling that she was happier with Alyssa that she was when she was with Reese. I understand why Charlie wanted keep their relationship private, but Alyssa wasn’t Reese and it was clear how crazy she was about her. I am kind of curious of what happens with them next, if the two of them stay together. I am hoping that they do. I have read few LGBT books through the years, and so far this has been one of my favorites. There was one character I had hard time liking, Reese. He’s everything that I dislike about guys, and I hate how he treated Charlie, her friends and how he made her feel. Honestly, I don’t know how she put up with him for as long as she did. The characters, the story is not all I loved about this book. I loved the cover, just look at it. The cover itself will want you to pick up the book and check out. You definitely should. QUEENS OF GEEK is a book that deserves so much more than five stars, and you will fall in love with it more, every chapter.

QUEENS OF GEEK is a second book that I read by JEN WILDE , and I know that she will be one of my favorites. I cannot wait to check her next book out. She inspired me, to not give up. To keep on writing, and that’s what I plan to do. QUEENS OF GEEK is real, and everything that happened in this story, is something that can happen in real life. I could picture everything that was happening, and I was blown away. Highly recommend this book. It was spectacular.
