Seventeen-year-old Abby Turner’s summer isn’t going the way she’d planned. She has a not-so-secret but definitely unrequited crush on her best friend, Cooper. She hasn’t been able to manage her mother’s growing issues with anxiety. And now she’s been rejected from an art show because her work “has no heart.” So when she gets another opportunity to show her paintings Abby isn’t going to take any chances.

Which is where the list comes in.

Abby gives herself one month to do ten things, ranging from face a fear (#3) to learn a stranger’s story (#5) to fall in love (#8). She knows that if she can complete the list she’ll become the kind of artist she’s always dreamed of being. But as the deadline approaches, Abby realizes that getting through the list isn’t as straightforward as it seems… and that maybe—just maybe—she can’t change her art if she isn’t first willing to change herself.

Magnificent.

Have you ever read that book, that seemed to mess with your emotions from start, to the end? Where you found yourself falling in love with characters and the story only after few pages? LOVE, LIFE AND THE LIST is that book for me. I already finished yet and I am still amazed by it, I can’t to seem to get the story out of my mind. I can’t help myself but wonder, What’s next for them? I am curious what happens with Abby and Cooper after, if they would remain together for a while. How can you not wonder? Especially after everything that both of them had to face, to get to the point where they are. That’s one of things that I loved about LOVE, LIFE AND THE LIST was their relationship wasn’t where they confessed their feelings and ended up together. Cooper and Abby’s relationship was more realistic. As you reader, you couldn’t help but wonder if Abby move past the crush she had on her best friend, and I could see that she tried to, with Elliott. Soon, it became clear that it was more than a crush. I don’t know how she managed to hold her feeling for as long as she had. I knew that Cooper cared about her, but I wasn’t sure if he felt about her, the way that Abby did about him. At least I wasn’t sure at first. All through the book, I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen, if anything. If Cooper would find out the truth about her feelings, and what would happen if he did. It was not long before two of them became my favorite characters.

Besides Abby and Cooper, I loved Lacey and Abby’s grandfather. Lacey, because of way she became such a great friend to Abby, especially with the whole mess with Cooper. Lacey was there, to help her without questions asked. I think it was a good thing that she met Lacey when she did. I hope that they two of them would stay friends for years to come. Abby’s grandfather, you can’t help but love him. There were multiple times through the novel where he had me laughing. I also loved how much he cared about his daughter, and how he attempted to help. Despite the fact that she refused to get help at first. I am just glad that she finally agreed that she needed help. I loved that it also dealt with art. I can’t draw or paint at all, but I love anything that has to do with art. I was as excited, as proud like everyone else when she got into that art program. That’s another thing that I am curious about. Yet, I know that she will be great.

A beautiful, memorable story about love, friendship, hope, fear and second chances. Out of all KASIE WEST books that I have read, this is my favorite. I can’t wait to see what adventure she will come up with next book.
