Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis.

Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.

I’m speechless. That was…magical. A part of me wants to start the book over again and read it again. I have been JOHN GREEN fan since I read LOOKING FOR ALASKA years earlier, when I was in college. I have been wondering when he would write a new book, and when I found he wrote a new book, I put it on hold at library right away. I loved all of his books, but now I have a new favorite TURTLES ALL THE WAY DOWN was one of his best ones, in my opinion. JOHN GREEN has a way to have you get you addicted to the story, to the point that you will spend hours reading the book. It made me glad that I didn’t have work because that meant that I could spend more time reading it. I was eager to see what would happen with Aza next, (Loving that name). All of her thoughts, her emotions, while I was reading the book, I felt as I was there and thinking, feeling almost everything that she was.

Out of all his novels, I felt as I could relate to Aza the most. I had dealt with Anxiety myself, as a teen and later in life, not as extreme as Aza’s. To me, there were parts of her like I felt that I could relate too. Mental health is a hard subject to write about and I have read few novels about it. TURTLES ALL THE WAY DOWN was one of the best, and even if I didn’t experience what Aza did, while reading the book, I felt like I was. I dealt with anxiety before but it never been that extreme, and I can’t even begin to imagine feeling like that all the time. I don’t know how she was able to handle it for as long as she had. The descriptions, the emotions that went through Aza’s mind were so descriptive, I had this thought as I was inside her mind. It had me wondering if it would ever get any better, and I hoped that for her sake that it would. Despite her being a difficult person to deal with, I understood it and she was actually my favorite character in the book.

Davis, not a long time passed when you could see a connection between him and Aza. I did wonder if their relationship would work, considering how Aza was. I was surprised that the two of them got to kissing, even if Aza did freak out not long after. That was what I loved about Davis and I believe what made their relationship work, at least for a while, he liked the way they were, he understood her and he didn’t pressure her into anything. Davis just wanted to be with her, to spend time with her. I was sad when it came to end, I was hoping that two of them would find a way to work around that. At same time I wasn’t surprised either. The scenes between Davis and Aza were my favorites, I think he was one of people that actually made her happy and same goes for Davis.

Daisy, she’s one of those people that you can’t help but love. I know that she would get frustrated with Aza at times. In the end, she was always there for Aza. She understood her and helped her calm down when she would get anxious. I feel like not many people would be able to deal with way that Daisy had. What the two of them had, that’s a real friendship, the one person that you know you remain friends with for years to come. I loved everything about this book, the plot, the characters, and of course the title, TURTLES ALL THE WAY DOWN how can you not love that awesome title? It was different from what JOHN GREEN usually writes, but in a good way. It took my breath away. I fell in love. I am already looking forward to his next book.

If you haven’t read any of his books, be sure to pick up TURTLES ALL THE WAY DOWN , It’s worth every page. After reading it, had actually inspired me to work on my own book I am writing. A book that you will find yourself thinking about and will stay with you.
