“Anyone can betray anyone.”

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.

The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.

That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.

Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart

What a magical journey! Wow, I was taken aback by this novel and once I came to the end, I was craving for more. RED QUEEN was a novel that I wished I have read sooner than I had. It’s one that been on mine to read list since last year and since then I have heard quite few positive reviews about it, to me it felt that it was the book that almost everyone talked about. Not long after I started reading the novel I saw why. It takes your breath away and takes you in Mare’s magical world, the one that you can’t help but to fall in love with. I did. When I picked the book and started reading, I only asked myself one question Why did I not read this sooner? I love any novels that have to do with royalty With fantasy in the mix, I feel like it makes it more interesting to read about. RED QUEEN was that novel, and one that you will find yourself re-reading some parts because of the unexpected twists, the ones that you did not see coming, and you will find yourself reading again, just to make sure that you read it right. On multiple occasions I found myself shocked, especially towards the end, it was the biggest twist of all. Now I need get the next book, so I can see what happens next.

Have you ever come across character, that you couldn’t help but fall in love with? And so when they turned out to be not who you thought they were, you find yourself in complete shock? That was me, with Maven, that was something that even I did not see coming. I was as shocked at Mare and his brother Cal were. I found myself sad when I found out that Maven was the bad guy, because after what he put Cal through, and the way that he betrayed them both, I don’t have it in my heart to like him anymore. As much as I wanted to, I just couldn’t, not after what he done. My emotions were all over place when I found out, I feel like part of me was in denial. Of course Cal was no angel either, but in the way Mare was at least of what he could do, what he was capable off, unlike with Maxen who pretended all way from start. I could see that Mare had connection to the both brothers, but I could see that the connection that she had with Cal was stronger then what she had with Maxen, and it made me wonder, if maybe he did all of that out of jealously. Despite the pretending I feel like he actually cared for her. Now Cal, I had a feeling that he cared her all way from start. Now with everything that happened, I wonder if two of them will actually end up together, and there is part of me that hopes that they do. I am eager to find out what’s in store for them next.

I loved fact how much action and quite bit of suspense and mystery that surrounded the novel. I cannot believe that this was her first novel, it was outstanding. There is a part of me that wishes that I could give this novel more than five stars because it deserves it. I have read both dystopian and royalty based novels before but nothing like this before, it was like it took me to completely different yet magical world. I loved fact that in this one they seemed be separated by colors, Red and Silver and how differently they acted. Mare was different, she was special but being in palace, did not stop her from being from who she was. I was so observed in their stories, in their life’s. I felt like I became part of their life. I already know that VICTORIA AVEYARD will be an author that I will love for years to come, I’m already in love with this series. Of course story and the storyline is not all that I loved about this book, I also in love with the cover and the title, it’s a type of cover that has a mystery behind by just looking at it, and it will make any reader, no, anyone wonder about it. Well, wonder no more. If you love fantasy mixed with royalty, some romance and suspense and magic in the mix, you will love it. Be ready to stay up because once you pick up the book you won’t put it down till the end.
