Never, ever cry...

Seventeen-year-old Eureka won't let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother's death and Ander's appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don't make sense. Can everything you love be washed away?

“You have to survive because I won't live in a world without you.”

Originally I read TEARDROP back in 2013, but since I found second book was out, I decided to re-read since it has been a while. Beautifully written, you can’t help but fall in love with story. First of all, the cover is stunning and it will capture your attention from start and honestly that what grabbed my attention, it’s colorful and mysterious at the same time. The title TEARDROP will cause a curiosity and you will find yourself wondering about it, I know that I did when I came across it first time around. I was curious about the title and the reason behind it. Once I started reading the novel, the title made sense. Plus the cover where she is wearing a dress that is made out of water which I am guessing are teardrops in a way tells you what story is about. I have heard a story about Atlantis before and I thought that TEARDROP put an unique twist to the story. I couldn’t get enough of the story, I kept turning pages late into night because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. Once I reached the end, I was ready for more.

ANDER & BROOKS : It was hard for me to pick who I prefer, considering that I loved both Brooks & Ander. Though I did go back and forth between liking and not for both of the guys, but especially Ander at the start of the book. Mostly because I wasn’t sure if his feelings for Eureka were real or not. I had a feeling that he would end up hurting her. I know that she is a fictional character but I felt protective of her. There was an attraction between Ander and Eureka, even though she wouldn’t admit it at first. However I felt there was more between Brooks and Eureka, their bond was stronger, at least in start. I wasn’t happy what happened to him and it was something I didn’t see coming but I had feeling something was off, he wasn’t acting like himself. I just hope that Eureka can bring back the old Brooks somehow. I am also curious to see what happens with Ander and Eureka next.

Of course you can’t help but love, and feel sorry for Eureka. At start I couldn’t help but feel sorry for her, I could tell how much her mother’s death affected her. Top of her depression, everything else seemed not to go her way. If I was in that situation, there was no way I would be able to handle all of it, without having a breakdown. You could see how much Eureka changed from start book to the end, I felt like she became stronger that she was at the start of the novel. The ending, it has me craving for the next book right away. After an ending like that, how can you not wonder what is going to happen next? The descriptions, the emotions in this book, brought this story to life for me. It was a first LAUREN KATE that I have read and it won’t be the last.
