High school senior Ally Duncan's best friend may be the Vanessa Park - star of TV's hottest new teen drama - but Ally's not interested in following in her BFF's Hollywood footsteps. In fact, the only thing Ally's ever really wanted is to go to Columbia and study abroad in Paris. But when her father's mounting medical bills threaten to stop her dream in its tracks, Ally nabs a position as Van's on-set assistant to get the cash she needs.

Spending the extra time with Van turns out to be fun, and getting to know her sexy co-star Liam is an added bonus. But when the actors' publicist arranges for Van and Liam to "date" for the tabloids just after he and Ally share their first kiss, Ally will have to decide exactly what role she's capable of playing in their world of make believe. If she can't play by Hollywood's rules, she may lose her best friend, her dream future, and her first shot at love.

BEHIND THE SCENES has been on my to read list for a while. Once I came to the end I wished that I had picked up book earlier, it was beautifully written, an emotional ride. I couldn’t force myself to put this book down, I found myself reading late into night so that I could finish it. A breathtaking, heartbreaking debut novel. The only reason I put it down was because of work, otherwise I would spent all day reading it. Adler did an amazing job displaying every character’s emotions through Ally’s eyes, and as a reader I could feel every single of those emotions. I cried, laughed, hoped along with Ally. Despite the book being fictional, every single character in BEHIND THE SCENES felt real to me, they were type of characters that could be real, because almost everything in this novel was realistic. I can see why it draws readers in, it something that some of them can relate to.

BEHIND THE SCENES isn’t a book just about love, it’s about friendship, fame, grief and test of friendship. This was my type of book. I have read books about fame before but never anything like this one, it seemed that reason that things got bad between Liam and Ally was due to fame. Why can’t every guy be like Liam? He had times where it had me wondering what he was thinking. Then what person didn’t. Vanessa and Ally had their moments as well. Its flaws like those that made this novel realistic, one of most realistic contemporary novels that I have read this year. Almost everything that happened in this novel, from relationships to fame, to grief I could see myself happening in real life while I read the novel. I did feel bad for Ally, just when things were looking up for her something else would go wrong. To me it felt like Ally couldn’t catch a break and honestly I don’t know how she dealt with everything as long as she did. All through novel I hoped that things will start getting better for her.

LIAM & VANESSA : Besides Ally, they were two of my favorite characters, there were almost impossible to not love. Both of them made mistakes but then which teenager doesn’t? Despite that no matter what, both of them were there for Ally, both of them helped her deal with her father’s sickness. That’s why I wasn’t too fond of how Ally ended things with Liam and fight that occurred with Vanessa, I knew that it would come eventually. Vanessa was right she did tell her that it was okay for her to pretend to date Liam. At same time she should have thought about how it might make Ally feel when she was dating her boyfriend. In the end both of them were there for her. I could tell that both of them cared for Ally deeply.

BEHIND THE SCENES was a extraordinary debut novel about friendship, fame and first love. A unforgettable book.
