Delilah is a bit of a loner who prefers spending her time in the school library with her head in a book—one book in particular. Between the Lines may be a fairy tale, but it feels real. Prince Oliver is brave, adventurous, and loving. He really speaks to Delilah.

And then one day Oliver actually speaks to her. Turns out, Oliver is more than a one-dimensional storybook prince. He’s a restless teen who feels trapped by his literary existence and hates that his entire life is predetermined. He’s sure there’s more for him out there in the real world, and Delilah might just be his key to freedom.

This was unlike any fairy tale I read before, and I had read few through the years. Like Delilah, I love fairytales, expect I love of all them not just a particular one. But there were multiple times that I did wonder if characters could possibly have a life, outside the fairytale book. What happened to them after happily ever after? Between The Lines wasn’t anything that I was expecting it to be, it was original. I been fan of Jodi Picoult for years so when I heard that her and her daughter wrote the book together, I was curious and of course had to pick it up. It’s unlike any book that Jodi wrote before, but once more I could not seem able to put the book down. Every page had me turning the pages, had me wondering about Oliver and Delilah and then after, what now? A book that had you eager for more. Between The Lines has you wondering what if fairytale characters were real, what would they be doing? A book that has you wondering about your favorite fairytale.

Oliver & Delilah: The two of them were the most ordinary couple, at least compared to what I had read in the past. Considering that Delliah was an actual real life character and Oliver a fictional one. I knew for a fact that it would be a relationship that could possibly work. Especially after few failed attempts to get him out of the book. I did feel like their feelings for one another develop a bit too fast. At first I wasn’t even sure if reason he felt attracted to her was because she was only one who could see him, maybe he just got lonely. However as the book progressed I could see how much he cared for her, how much he loved her. The scenes between two of them, had me smiling. How could it not? If only every relationship could be like that. I was rooting for them all through book, and of course the end of book had me grinning. The two of them deserved a happily ever after.

I loved fact that it was written from both Oliver & Delilah’s point of view with an actual fairy tale in between. I felt like I got to know both of them better that way, and actually imagine role Oliver had play every time book was opened, I don’t think I would be able do it. I don’t blame Oliver for wanting an escape. An illustration, that was one of my favorite parts of the book, was the drawings through the book. Amazing. It actually made me imagine, picture everyone much better and what is going on through the book, because of the drawings. It made me wish that I could draw like that. The Drawning made the book even more interesting to read, I was always looking toward what drawing it would be next, of who. Jodi’s daughter has great imagination since I heard idea was hers and I do hope that she writes something else in the future. If you into Fairy Tales, Romance, be sure to check this book out, it’s unlike any fairy tale, romance novel you read before.
