Julep Dupree tells lies. A lot of them. She’s a con artist, a master of disguise, and a sophomore at Chicago’s swanky St. Agatha High, where her father, an old-school grifter with a weakness for the ponies, sends her to so she can learn to mingle with the upper crust. For extra spending money Julep doesn’t rely on her dad—she runs petty scams for her classmates while dodging the dean of students and maintaining an A+ (okay, A-) average.

But when she comes home one day to a ransacked apartment and her father gone, Julep’s carefully laid plans for an expenses-paid golden ticket to Yale start to unravel. Even with help from St. Agatha’s resident Prince Charming, Tyler Richland, and her loyal hacker sidekick, Sam, Julep struggles to trace her dad’s trail of clues through a maze of creepy stalkers, hit attempts, family secrets, and worse, the threat of foster care. With everything she has at stake, Julep’s in way over her head . . . but that’s not going to stop her from using every trick in the book to find her dad before his mark finds her. Because that would be criminal.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this novel. It looked like my sort of book from the description but I never have high expectations for debut novel. I never imagined a thriller book is this heartbreaking, but this book did. Trust Me, I’m Lying was an amazing debut novel, a book filled with suspense, mystery and one that will keep you on guessing till the end. From moment that Juliep’s father goes missing , I found myself trying to put the pieces together, to what could possibly happened to him, what trouble he managed to get himself into this time. It felt like I needed to know what happened. On weekend, I found myself reading book most of day just so I could find out. Reading Trust Me, I’m Lying I felt like I went on the journey along with Juliep, just not as dangerous as her. All of the descriptions, everything that happened to her, I could imagine and feel like I was there with her. How could you not love a book like that? It’s like almost entering a completely different world.

In beginning I didn’t know what to think of Juliep. I knew that I should dislike her, considering what her father did and how she lied to others. Other part of me felt sorry for her after her father went missing, and fact that someone was trying to kill her on top of it. At same time I was impressed by her talents, her dedication to figure out what happened to her dad. Despite the warning, and multiple times she was almost killed, she didn’t give up like I would have; she kept on going till she figured out the mystery. Juliep stood her ground, though she was stubborn, she should had a backup instead of doing half of things on her own. Once I reached the end of the book, I knew that there was going to be a sequel, just the way that book ended. I got a feeling that Juliep is about to get herself into more trouble, she can’t seem to stay away from it.

I knew that Tyler cared about her, especially considering how he risked his own life, so she can escape. I won’t lie; I shed few tears by that point on. If I had any doubts about his actual feelings for her before, I didn’t anymore. Despite that, I still preferred Sam over Tyler. Sam knew her most of his life, and he done so much more for her that Tyler did, he went to jail because of her, got captured because of her. I know for fact that what he felt for her was real love. I can’t believe how clueless she been. Did she not notice how jealous he got when she talked about Tyler, or how nervous he got when he was asking her to dance? By then, I knew how he felt about her. Now that he is in military school and still hasn’t contacted her, I am actually curious to see what happens between them next, if something will spark between them in next book. I love romance but I enjoy mystery books that have more action than romance, Trust Me, I’m Lying is that book.

An breathtaking, thrilling, filled with a lot of suspense debut YA Thriller.
