critically acclaimed, bestselling novel from Gayle Forman, author of Where She Went, Just One Day, Just One Year, and the forthcoming I Was Here.

On a day that started like any other, Mia had everything: a loving family, a gorgeous, admiring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music and full of choices. In an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, between a happy past and an unknowable future, Mia spends one critical day contemplating the only decision she has left. It is the most important decision she'll ever make.

Simultaneously tragic and hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting, and ultimately uplifting story about memory, music, living, dying, loving.

This book had me going through so many emotions. I could see why so many people were talking about the book. If I Stay is a story that will stay in your mind, In your heart long after you finish the book. You will find yourself thinking about the story, the characters long after you reach the end of the book. A Beautiful, touching story about love, loss and hope. I am going admit that so far, it’s one of favorite books that I have read this year so far. It’s also the most emotional one; I teared up few times while reading the book. Considering the story how can you not? In way it reminded me of The Lovely Bones expect this story was more emotional to me. I fell in love with story from very first page and I felt like I could connect with Mia, the main characters. It was real. I found myself being able to feel all the emotions that were going through her at that time. It had such memorable characters. I did not wanted to put it down.

Mia of course was one of most memorable characters in the book. I was curious to see what decisions she would make. Would she stay or would she let go? I know that it was feelings that she was struggling all way through the book. I hoped that she would make decision to stay. I did not want to let her go, even though she is a fictional character. I know that she probably did not want to face what she had to deal with, if she did stay. The death of her entire family. I had feeling that it was something she didn’t want to deal with, but then who would? I had feeling there were few times that she considering giving up, letting go. “I'm not sure this is a world I belong in anymore. I'm not sure that I want to wake up.” That was such beautiful yet heartbreaking quote; I wanted to tell her that she still has her grandparents, Adam and Kim. To not give up.

Now Adam, this was another memorable character that you couldn’t help but love. At first I wasn’t too sure about Adam, especially fact how two of them had seemed be drifting apart. To be honest I didn’t know if two of them would last, if what two of them was love. All of that changed after he practically got himself in trouble, almost getting kicked out of hospital, just so that he could see her. What he said while he was there, that was so moving and at that point I found tears in my eyes. My heart broke for him. By that point I really hoped that she would stay. In that moment there was no doubt in my mind that he loved her. I loved learning about Mia’s past through her memories. It made her character feel so real. To me, Mia was real. So when I reached the end, I was smiling and crying at the same time. A type of ending that had me wishing that I had a copy of Where She Went so I could see what’s next for Mia in her life. How she would cope with everything.

A Masterpiece, a must read. A powerful, moving story about friendship, love, loss, choices and hope. A memorable book, that is worth more than five stars.
