I loved The Iron Fey series. At first I was bit hesitant of reading the spin off, I wasn’t sure how much I enjoy it since Meghan been my favorite character. At same time, I was curious about Ethan, how he turned out since he was younger in Iron Fey. I ended up loving this series, though I still prefer Iron Fey bit more, I know that I will enjoy this one. I was happy that I received an ARC copy through the publisher. There was so much action in this novel. I’m already curious where their journey will take them next.

GOODREADS SUMMARY

Don’t look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them.

That is Ethan Chase’s unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he’d dare to fall for.

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister’s world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myth and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

The Lost Prince is the type of book that keeps your attention, from a start to the very end. Pretty much every page in the book, kept me on the edge of my seat, kept me guessing. That what I love about Kagawa novels, fact that she has us guessing what’s going to happen, what will be discovered through the entire book. That’s type of books I love, not when you figure what will come, halfway through the novel. I was curious, to see if they would succeed in their mission, solve the mystery and be able to get back home, safely. There was also some twist within book, I did not see coming. Like with Mackenzie’s secret, that took as much by surprise as Ethan when she told him. I had feeling that she was hiding something, but Cancer? That was the last thing I suspected. I was sad when I found out, because I loved Mackenzie, right from start. Now, I can’t wait for next installment, I am kind of curious what will happen with all those faeries, if war will break out.

Mackenzie & Ethan: I loved how different they were. In way they reminded me of Ash & Meghan, expect Ethan was even more stubborn then Ash was. Expect to me, Ethan seemed more stubborn and he tried pretty much everything in attempt to stay away from her. He tried to deny his feelings for so long, always arguing with Mackenzie too, but I knew he cared about her, right from the start. Otherwise he wouldn’t try protecting her when they got to Faery word, and the way he had those weird feelings anytime he was around her. Now Mackenzie, now that’s a girl that you don’t want to mess with, she’s one of strongest fictional female characters I came across. She reminds me bit of Meghan, expect to me, she was strong right from the start. Also way she doesn’t take no for answer and doesn’t let anyone control her, I love that in a girl. She’s tough. Now, I am pretty curious what will happen between them, especially since Mackenzie is sick.

I loved that they mentioned Meghan and Ash in the books, even if it wasn’t much. They were my favorites in Iron Fey so it made me smile. Seeing, reading about the characters from the series made me feel like the Iron Fey didn’t quite end. I’m happy that she decided to write a spin off. I wasn’t sure if she actually mentions characters from series, so one of reasons I was bit hesitant a bit. I’m hoping that maybe she will mention them more in the next book.

Now Ethan, I loved reading the book through his eyes. I connected with him more, especially through his feelings. While I was reading Iron Fey, I always wondered if Ethan remembered everything, how he felt about Meghan leaving and how he end up when he’s older. I could understand how he felt, if I was in his situation, I would feel the same. He reminded me of Ash when Meghan just met him, stubborn, cold. I saw how he changed through the book. Now to find out what adventure awaits for him next.

If you are fan of Iron Fey Saga, The Lost Prince is worth checking out.
