Chloe Neill astonished me again. Reading Chicagoland Vampires makes me wish that I had discovered the series sooner. Each book, each page keeps me on the edge of my seat. After reading Twice Bitten , Chicagoland Vampires became one of my favorite series. Out of all books I read so far, Twice Bitten has been my favorite so far, the best out of the series so far. This book had more action going on and there wasn’t a page in this book, that didn’t kept me wonder what’s going to happen next. The ending made me eager to pick up Hard Bitten , to see what happens next, especially with Ethan & Merit. If you enjoyed the first two books, Twice Bitten is worth checking out.

GOODREADS SUMMARY
Shapeshifters from across the country are convening in the Windy City, and as a gesture of peace, Master Vampire Ethan Sullivan has offered their leader a very special bodyguard: Merit, Chicago's newest vampire. Merit is supposed to protect the Alpha, Gabriel Keene-and to spy for the vamps while she's at it. Oh, and luckily Ethan's offering some steamy, one-on-one combat training sessions to help her prepare for the mission.

Unfortunately, someone is gunning for Gabriel, and Merit soon finds herself in the line of fire. She'll need all the help she can get to track down the would-be assassin, but everywhere she turns, there are rising tensions between supernaturals-not least between her and a certain green-eyed, centuries-old master vampire.

It seemed that in Twice Bitten, Merit found herself in more dangerous situation than in previous novels. To me, it seemed anytime she and Ethan were guarding Gabriel, something would go wrong and they would end up getting shot at. It was mysterious at the same, the shooting because it happened anytime the alphas were at some sort of meeting. For a while, I was pretty sure that Tony was ordering the hits so I found myself surprised when he ended up dead. Adam was the last person I expected it to be. However I did feel there was something not right about way he was acting around Merit, towards the end. I found myself wondering what he was up to. I was glad that Merit managed to figure all that out or otherwise things wouldn’t ended well for her. Those were totally twists that I didn’t see coming.

Twice Bitten had more romance added to the storyline, between Ethan and Merit. It seemed that there was even more tension between the two of them, even after they acted upon their feelings. Thought I wasn’t happy with Ethan for sleeping with her, then dumping her. Yet, I could tell how he cared about her, despite what he told her. Of course I could see the tension rise more between two of them after he dumped, I was waiting to see if he change his mind. I was eager to see what happen between them next and when nothing did, it actually made me feel frustrated. Of course the ending, left me hanging and now I am even more eager to see what happens between two of them in next book. I do hope both of them finally come to their senses.

In general, Twice Bitten didn’t disappoint me. It was filled with action, and there quite bit fighting involved and it kept me on edge of my seat. Plus the tension between Vampires and Shapeshifters caused me to wonder what’s going happen between them next, if there even be peace between them, and how people will react to shapeshifters, now that they know they exist?
