Stay” by Deb Caletti, tells a story about a girl, Clara who falls in love with a boy, Christian who she meets at basketball game. From the moment two of them meet, there is an attraction between the two of them and soon they fall in love with one another. In the beginning, Christian is everything she needs, wants. However then the relationship takes a dangerous turn when Christian becomes controlling and obsessive, over Clara. Causing both Clara and her to flee to Bishop Rock, so Clara can get away from Christian, not telling anyone where they are.

This was my first Caletti novel that I have read and I was hooked from very beginning. I loved the writing style, I loved the alternate chapters, how chapter would start out from present and next chapter would go to past, how she met Christian, their relationship. The writing kept me on reading; there wasn’t a time when I got bored with book. From the moment that I picked up the book, I didn’t want put it down and I wouldn’t have if I haven’t gone to friends for New Year Eve & New Year. I loved her relationship with her father thought as well but i did wonder what he was hiding from Clara about their mother. I loved his personality and I could tell that he really cared about Clara.

From the moment Christian became controlling, I wanted to tell Clara to get out of it right there, right then. It reminded me of a friend who had similar situation few years earlier. I could actually imagine how Clara was feeling, I could feel her fear. I was so glad when she finally broke it off with Christian but I was still afraid for her, however I had a feeling that Christian would find her, I wasn’t sure how but I had that feeling. On other hand I knew that Finn would protect her, I could tell from very beginning, even before they kissed that he cared about her. I was however scared for a momebt that she wasn’t going to make it when her boat tipped over, in water.

I loved Bishop Rock, it seemed like a fairytale to me, it’s a place I imagined myself being one day. Everything that was described in it, The Lighthouse, the beach, the boat tours just seemed amazing. I had hoped that Clara could get a new start there.

This book seemed like it could possibly be based off true story, because that is something that can happen in real life. It was emotional, dark novel but I loved fact that Clara found someone like Finn, she deserved to find an actual nice, caring boy after what Christian put her through. I see myself reading this book more, in future. I see myself reading rest of Caletti’s novel, she got talent. I would recommend this to everyone.
